I'm currently having a dispute with my friend about the use of irony. I stated that "It is ironic that Jennifer Lopez achieved fame at the expense of the person she was playing, Selena, who had just died. It's not ironic because it's unexpected or some stupid crap like that, but rather because it shows the folly of man, in that we tend to prosper off each other's downfalls." My friend says it's not the correct use of the the word. Who is right?
