PB&J

The girlfriend says, "Tell me something you really like for dinner, something special I can make for you."

I say, "I don't like most homecooked food, but I could really, really go for a PB&J, it's been a long time since I've had one, and I just bought some Kool-Aid."

Cue the girlfriend leaving, slamming door on her way out. I find out through a mutual friend she's still angry that I won't tell her what foods I actually like, becuase if I loved her, I would come up with something more complicated than a sandwich.

I... I don't understand. Anything. Ever. EXPLAIN!

She most likely believes that you are being flippant, even if your desire for "Peanut butter and jelly" is in fact heartfelt.

I suggest that you find some complex dish, something that she has no hope of possibly preparing correctly, and state that it is your favorite. When she inevitably fails in the preparation of the meal, the burden will then shift from you to her, and she will try to find some other way to satisfy you.
