You know, I also read in the same pamphlet that they pick up around 6 million cigarette butts while cleaning up at this outdoor concert place every year. And I was wondering how or why someone would calculate that statistic.

It can be done in constant time, if you don't count collection time. Put all the butts together and weigh them. Divide by the average weight of a butt to get the approximate number of them.

Well. I know how you'd calculate it if you had a big pile of cigarette butts, but that would involve separating the butts from other garbage. The only other way I can see them doing it is taking a sample from an area of a specific size and then assuming that the amount of cigarette butts will be equally distributed throughout the arena. But it still seems like a stupid thing to calculate. Anyway, it wasn't a Britney Spears concert.
Uh-huh, sure. I think they just made up that statistic, anyway, because who's going to count? And I think that the preteen losers at a Britney Spears concert would smoke a bit less than the old losers at Three Tenors gig. Did they take that into account? And more to the point, who cares?
It's just supposed to make you feel bad for littering. Well, I paid my 45 bucks, I should be able to just throw whole cigarettes on the ground, and they should clean it up! Yea! Take that, concert ground!
Actually, at this particular non-Britney concert I attended there were a great deal of young teenage girls wearing "shirts" without backs who were smoking up a storm and doing their fab rave moves. But I guess they wouldn't necessarily be Spears fans even if they are stupid and slutty.
I'm dumping battery acid on the seats! I'm spreading tar on the grass! And they have to clean it up, because I paid for that ticket! Take that, Ticketmaster!!! Take that, fairgrounds! I'm a paying customer! Clean up my filth!!!
