God Stuff

If God is an omnipotent, omniscient being, then why are people supposed to pray? Wouldn't an omniscient God already know? Does He find it insulting when people keep telling Him things He figures out on His own? (And does He live in Alaska?)

Well, He did the best job he could when He created the Earth, and I mean Christ, just look at the way this shithole turned out! If the Earth were my botched job, I'd be feeling pretty insecure as well.

You know, Douglas, you seem a lot more bitter as an Askee than you actually are in real life. I wonder if that's really you or some interloper with a Douglas Adams mask.....

I do try to remain upbeat, but I mean, have you seen my fans lately? They'd drive any man to drink. I don't even do conventions anymore, just to avoid people asking me "that question".

Prayer is for your benefit, not God's. If God acted on what was he knows is best for us all without us even asking, we would have no free will. That is God's greatest gift to us, and it's certainly not His fault that most people squander it so. That's why the world is, as you put it, a "shithole," Douglas....or John, or whomever you are.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some fusion planet buster missiles with Zakharov's name written all over them.
