Some people have such large egos that they can't believe the site could persist without them.
Or like in that philosophical doctrine, solipsism? Where people think that they're the only ones in the universe and everything that they see exists only in their head? It's kind of like when Berkeley asked if no one's there to here a tree falling in the forest if it does indeed make a sound. "To be is to be perceived."
