That sounds about as ridiculous as a theory one of my friends in high school had that the moon will eventually crash into the earth, and due to the friction of the two slowly rolling around each other, the earth would start looking like an applecore with a small ball adjacent to it, then finally turn into a "moon hamburger" as the two remaining halves of the earth would sandiwch the remaining moon fragment.
