Yeah... but how do they get the side that nothing sticks too... to stick to the side that sticks to the pan?

Okay, you want a real answer? Robot puppets aside, Teflon is sticky in all directions. So you sandblast the pan, put on a very thin primer coat that will seep in to the microscratches, and you bake it at very high heat, so that you have a fairly strong mechanical bond. And then you spray on the final coat. So if you heat a teflon pan too much, poof, useless pan.

One coat of Teflon will stick perfectly well to another, however.
