You addressed this a couple days ago but once again the Americans screwed it up. Canada has never been subject to a forgien monarch, the British Mornarch is also ours as Canada is part of the British Commonwealth. As for 1812, yes Canada was successful in invading the United States all the way to Washington and yes we burned down the president's mansion.
But when it comes down to it, 1812 wasn't simply an example of the Canadian military prowess (although it was as our military at the time consisted of simply a colonial militia) but more one of common sense. The treaty that ended the war, left the borders as they existed previous to the war, extened them to the end of the continent, so something like this wouldn't happen again, and no winner was declared.
We did this simply to avoid a long and costly war that was, well stupid.
