OK, so it's understood that while unfair, when a woman says "you should feel free to date other people, even if I don't" 99.9% of the time she means "dating others will lead to castration."
So, when the guy I'm seeing said "while you're on break, consider yourself single," does the translation hold the same as if a woman said it? Or is it don't ask, don't tell? Or is it as it is said.
