Why does my low-self-esteem friend (who constantly says "I'm stupid and ugly and nobody loves me) get a boyfriend....where as myself and another friend have much better self-esteem and are boy-toy-less?

Perhaps it is because most men have more self-respect than to lower themselves to "boy-toy" status.
Or maybe your friend just has really big jugs.
