Okay, class, time for today's lesson.

As an example, we'll use the second "Muppets" thread where some jerk tries to overwhelm us with knowledge of the Muppet Show. Great, whatever. I assume you've all read it as part of your homework.
The Writers
Now, look at this reply.
(Slide, please?)

Spider Man       (11:58 AM)     [activate]  [kill

The picture is BACKWARDS you morons!

*sigh*

What is the correct course of action?
The Nerds in the Audience
From the alt.tv.muppets FAQ:

"Who are the two old guys in the balcony?
Statler and Waldorf. Statler is the taller, thinner one sitting on the right as we look at them in their box."

Statler is on the right. That's the way we have it. Take that, idiot user! BURN!
The Writers
That is technically correct, and good, you're remembering last week's lesson, "We always work against the user."

But no, the correct response is "KILL."

The thread is funny as it is, and you must allow that to override your need to defend yourself and prove that the user is an idiot, as is the case here. It's tough to do, but a funny bit is better than an unfunny personal defense.
Live Studio Audience
Funny, we figured you'd just make up some elaborate ploy to allow you to simultaneously mock the user without ruining the thread.

Ooh, somebody's ready for the advanced class!
