Of course JEff K. is real.
He exists as certainly as stupidity and chat rooms and bad typing exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest frustration and pain. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no JEff K.! It would be as dreary as if there were no Slogans. There would be no childlike arguments then, no miscaptialization, no flamewars to make intolerable this online existence. We should have no mocking laughter at those stupider than ourselves, except in our own family and friends. The external light with which stupid internet users fill the world wide web would be extinguished.
Not believe in JEff K.! You might as well not believe in newbies. You might get your sysadmin to capture logs to watch in all the chatrooms on AOL to catch JEff K., but even if you did not see JEff K., what would that prove? Nobody sees JeFf K., but that is no sign that there is no JEFf K. The most stupid things in the world are those that neither sysadmins nor users can see. Did you ever see newbies adding something intelligent to a usenet thread? Of course you have not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the blunders there are unseen and unseeable in the world wide web.
