This isn't about cuteness or relationships! Really! I'm just wondering, what's the difference between a nerd and a geek? I've called myself each at times, but I'm not really sure.

I was JUST thinking about that. It seems like how suddenly, overnight, the word "nerd" is back. Back in the old days (meaning 1995 or so) we all shuddered at being called "nerd", and insisted on "geek".

But then "geek" started taking on too many weird connotations. For one thing, slashdot started making geeks look like dorks. And geeks started getting a reputation for being arrogant and rude.

So we're back to nerd. Nerd is quieter, less in your face. You can say things like "Sure, I'm a nerd, but it's not all I am."
With "geek", all you can say is "hi im a geek wana see my anime colection?"
