In Philly, we called it soda. In CT, it was soda. In Indiana and Montana, it's called pop. Down in GA and other parts of the deep south, they refer to it as "coke" as in:
Customer: I'll have a coke.
Waitress: What kind?
Customer: Sprite.
Hmm, maybe the Marketing Wonks were right in the first place....
