The Topic: Who let the corn out?

Mackinaw Joe
The other day I was walking down the street and a small gang of young thugs were walking towards me, talking street lingo. One says, "Man, I am voting clark." And I thought, 'Wow, am I ever out of the loop. I have no idea what that means.' Then another chides him, and the first repeats, "I am so voting Joe Clark."

It's election time in Canada, and Joe Clark is the leader of the Conservative Party. What followed was an in-depth political discussion in ebonics. It made my heart glad. I had underestimated these kids. I wonder what the "Founding Fathers" think, because I know you don't have any Canadian politicians to comment.

Most amusing. I kind of like the idea of my name being street lingo, even if it wasn't actually the case.

It was very common in our time. Quite often during the late 18th century someone could be heard to remark "It's all about the Benjamins."

I doubt that's the case somehow, that bit of slang is quite common in the United States today.
Alexander Hamilton
Yes, but back then, it meant "Old, fat guys with Bifocals."
