As a big proponent of the digital revolution, I suggest DVD as an excellent choice for watching fruity art-house films from directors such as Bruckheimer, Cameron, Speilberg, Kubrick, Burton and the like. You just can't beat the amazingly dynamic multichannel sound, and high contrast colorful picture.

However, if you want to watch mainstream movies such as Star Wars Episode I, The Phantom Menace, tape is where it's at, baby!

Let me put it this way- There's a better chance of me releasing the original trilogy on DVD than there is of me letting Star Wars characters become Askees.

But Mr. Lucas, how can you one the one hand advocate digital screenings in theaters, but on the other hand not be gung-ho to embrace the new home digital medium?
I'm concerned that if I release Star Wars Episode I, The Phantom Menace on DVD, the so called "Star Wars fans" will use hacking software to unencrypt it, convert it to an mpeg2 file, and then use any of a number of popular video editing packages to edit Jar Jar down to a bit-part.
That goes against everything the art of film is about. You can't have people going around making revisions of movies - the movie is part of history, and should always be exhibited in its original form.
I think it would be best if I just left this one alone.
