Why does my boyfriend think the sacrifices I've made for him mean less than the few he's made for me?

All people, men and women, are egocentric. It is a natural state, since all of our experiences are restricted to our own conciousness, to some extent.

Depending on social experiences, this is reduced as babies become children, and children become adults. For different people, it is reduced by a greater or lesser extent. For instance, without speaking with both of you, I cannot be a judge that he is indeed being selfish, or if it is not your perception that brings you to this conclusion. Most likely, it is a little bit of both.

But Doctor, what you're missing is there is a poor, dejected, but sexy woman, ready to shower adoration upon me. My love quarters await.

And for some, the development I mentioned above is completely stunted. What amazes me is that women still sleep with these social throwbacks.

It was a mistake! Will you people ever let it drop?!
Bender
Can't see a reason to do that.

Okay okay so he's not toatally selfish but he certainly acts like it sometimes. Any suggestions on how to approach him on the subject w/o getting blown off?

and his mother's still trying to make him dump after 2 years, any suggestions on what to with or about her?

Approaching him should be done gently. I'd advise against a special, romantic night, because critiques can turn such a night sour fast. Don't pick just any time. Perhaps after a meal, when he is full and sleepy, would be best. And when you speak to him, don't speak in absolutes, say "I sometimes feel this way" or something similar. Absolutes will put him on the defensive.

As for the mother, meddling relatives can be the worst. They tend to do more damage than good.

Frasier and I are licensed professionals. We know what we are doing when we meddle.

I didn't say anything.
