Bush made the statement:
"I am committed to the First Amendment principles of religious
freedom, tolerance, and diversity. Whether Mormon, Methodist, Jewish, or Muslim, Americans should be able to participate in their constitutional free exercise of religion. I do not think witchcraft is a religion, and I do not think it is in any way appropriate for the U.S. military to promote it."

Seems to me that young Bush has a pretty narrow definition of what religion is - namely, only faiths from the Judeo/Christian/Islamic branch, which all have some of the same holy texts and base points of faith. While he might make some exceptions for the Buddhists and Taoists (would he?), it would seem that no Elusinians, no Voudouns, no AmerIndians and no Shamanic or witch spiritualities are "religions" in Bush's America. Wicca itself is already a recognized religion and, as noted above, Bush would like to remove that legal recognition.
I'd love to hear what some of the Shamen and Wicca (and proponents of other applicable faiths) around here think of this statement, and what Baby Bush has to say for himself.
