It's like this. The "Earth" is inside of a really huge, round building that has a bunch of holes punched in it. When the sun is up outside, it shines through the holes and makes the stars. When it is down, during the day, the blue safety lights are on in here and all we see is the ceiling.
Easy, huh? And I never even finished my second semester of quasi-modal hyper-dimensional mathematics!
