My friend is about to take his physics final and is freaking out. How do I get him to calm down?

Tell him to think about the worst that could possibly happen, and ask if it's worse than all this panic and worry.
On the other hand, if the worst that could happen is really really bad, this could do more damage.

Well, sorry about that. I thought it was good advice. I used to do that all the time, and I only had a nervous breakdown once, maybe twice.
