The Topic: Compiler pain

  The Asker

Arrrrghh! Each build I run takes an hour and a half, every time I want to test a tiny bug patch. How can I make the hurting stop?

I know! God! Just imagine working on the networking code for a massive multiplayer project, where each little change requires not only the standard hour-long client build, but also several server builds.

And that's just for your own testing! If you're going to check that code in, you have to do 3 builds of everything (Debug, Release and Final), PLUS you have to update the Makefile and make sure it compiles under GCC on Linux also.

Why are we all still using C++ again?

Hey, you know that conversation I had with you and Bacon?

The one where you told us that nobody enjoys our boring rants about programming?

Network Exec

Good guess! Now get off camera before you drive our ratings down.
