Armaggedon Song...

The Question:

There is some classical song which I always hear playing in
Armaggedon movies. It sounds vaguely like a Gregorian Chant, but there
are women in the choir. Ugh, I don't know if you have any idea what
song I'm talking about, but, it basically starts very low, and gets
progressively loud throughout the song until it becomes almost deafening
any ideas as to the identity of this Armaggedon song?

An anonymous asker adds:

The "Armageddon Song" just asked about is "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi", the opening segment of the cantata "Carmina Burana" by composer Carl Orff. (The segment in question is also repeated at the end of the work. There's lots of other cool bits in the middle.) Get the recording with Seiji Ozawa conducting the Berlin Orchestra, Philips 422363-2. Tasty.
